Brief mental health Evaluation

Quick Evaluation for Mental and Emotional Well-being

A brief mental health assessment is a fast, structured evaluation aimed at understanding an individual's current mental and emotional state. It typically involves a conversation or questionnaire to gather key information, helping to quickly assess mental health concerns and treatment needs.

  • Testing Length: 1-2 hours
  • Summary Letter: Includes brief summary report (typically 1-2 pages)

**Remote-Only **  This Brief Mental Health Evaluation is offered remotely only via a secure telehealth platform. This allows for maximum flexibility and convenience, enabling you to complete the assessment from the comfort of your home while still receiving an accurate and professional evaluation.

A brief mental health evaluation is ideal when you need a quick and focused assessment of your mental and emotional well-being.   The main goal of a brief mental health assessment is to gather enough information to make an initial evaluation of the individual’s mental health. This assessment helps determine the urgency of treatment and guides the development of a treatment plan if needed. Keep in mind, this is often the first step, and a more in-depth evaluation may follow if necessary.

By choosing a brief mental health evaluation, you can gain valuable insights quickly and efficiently, helping you address your mental health concerns and take steps toward improvement.

Is this an urgent mental health issue requiring immediate intervention?

Thank The assessment helps clarify if there are critical mental health risks, such as suicidal ideation or severe emotional distress, that demand immediate attention.

  • Is the individual experiencing symptoms of a specific mental health disorder?  The evaluation can help identify or rule out conditions such as major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, or other mood and anxiety-related disorders.

  • How is the individual's mental health impacting their daily life and functioning?  This question looks at how mental health issues are affecting key areas of the individual’s life, including work, school, relationships, and self-care.

  • Could physical health or medication be contributing to the mental health concerns?  A review of the individual’s medical history helps assess whether physical health conditions or medications are influencing their mental and emotional well-being.

  • What role do social and environmental factors play in the individual’s current mental health state?  The assessment examines how recent life changes, social support systems, and family dynamics may be contributing to the current mental health situation.

  • Is there a history of substance use impacting the individual’s mental health?  The evaluation considers whether substance use or abuse is playing a significant role in the individual's emotional and cognitive functioning.

Note: Appointment days and times vary based on availability. Dr. Moreland only schedules a limited number of evaluations per month due to the time requirements and complexity of these cases. If the available dates do not work for your needs, please contact us, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
