Superbilling is like a superhero for your medical bills. It's a way to send a super-detailed invoice, also known as a Superbill, to your insurance company. This document lists out everything about your doctor visit, helping you and your insurance company understand the costs better.
How Superbills Work in Simple Terms
1. Your Part Before the Intake: It helps you talk to your insurance company prior to the intake appointment to see if they will allow out of network providers to bill for Code 90791 and how much they will reimburse you for that code.
2. After the Intake Appointment: Dr. Moreland will create a Superbill for you that has all of the details that your insurance will need to know about your visit - including the 90791 Code and the amount you paid. She will also provide you with a Good Faith Estimate that will include the Codes that she believes will be used during your evaluation process.
3. Your Part After the Intake (Prior to the Evaluation): You will need to turn in your Intake Superbill to your insurance. You will also want to call them with the Good Faith Estimate in your hand to ask them questions regarding the evaluations (see questions below).
4. After The Evaluation Is Completed: Dr. Moreland will create a Superbill for you that has all of the details that your insurance will need to know about your evaluation- including the how many codes were used and how much you paid.
5. Your Part After the Evaluation: You will need to turn in your Evaluation Superbill to your insurance.
Once you've received the Detailed Good Faith Estimate, it's time to reach out to your insurance company.
Below are some questions you might want to ask them, along with guidance on what to do next:

3. What is my out-of-network deductible, and have I already met it?
4. Do I need any pre-approval for out-of-network mental health services to be eligible for reimbursement?
5. How do I go about requesting reimbursement?
For each CPT code listed on the Good Faith Estimate:
It may be helpful share the answers to these insurance questions with the provider you've chosen. This will help them provide a more accurate estimate of the testing costs beyond what insurance may cover.
