A general court-ordered psychological evaluation typically includes:
The next step in the evaluation process is for Dr. Moreland to receive and review all relevant collateral records. These records are essential for a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment. Below is a list of some of the collateral records that are typically reviewed during an court-ordered evaluation. These documents can be uploaded to the client portal and/or Dr. Moreland and her offices staff can request these on the evaluee's behalf.
Note: The decision to provide any of the releases or documents listed below (unless required by the court) is voluntary. However, missing information may be noted as a limitation in the final report. Dr. Moreland recommends consulting with your legal counsel before making any decisions about what to submit. If there are any releases or documents you do not wish Dr. Moreland to review, please notify us promptly.
In a Court-Ordered Psychological Evaluation, the inclusion of collateral documents is essential for providing a comprehensive and evidence-based assessment of a parent’s ability to care for their child. These documents offer important context, background information, and insights into the parent’s history and circumstances. Here is a list of common collateral documents that may be reviewed as part of the evaluation:
Collateral documents provide essential context and background information that help ensure a fact-based, thorough evaluation. These documents complement the psychological testing and clinical interviews by offering objective data about your health, history, and any legal or medical factors influencing your current situation. By submitting the requested releases and documents, Dr. Moreland can assess patterns over time and provide a comprehensive report to the court or relevant parties. Missing or incomplete documents may limit the scope of the evaluation and could be noted as a limitation in the final report.
Evaluee's or their legal representatives will typically be asked to provide the necessary collateral documents for review. In some cases, releases of information may be required to obtain these records from healthcare providers, CPS, or other agencies. It is important that all relevant documents are submitted to ensure a comprehensive evaluation.
As part of the Court-Ordered Psychological Evaluation, psychological testing plays a crucial role in providing objective insights into an individual’s mental health and/or cognitive functioning. These tests help assess various aspects of emotional, behavioral, and psychological well-being, offering data-driven findings to support the evaluation process. The results of these tests are integrated with clinical interviews and collateral information to create a comprehensive understanding of the individual’s mental state and functioning.
As part of the Court-Ordered Psychological Evaluation, both clinical and collateral interviews can often play an essential role in gathering comprehensive and reliable information about the individual being assessed. These interviews provide valuable context and personal insights that may complement psychological testing and collateral documents, ensuring that the evaluation is thorough and fact-based.
The clinical interview is a direct, one-on-one conversation between Dr. Moreland and the individual undergoing evaluation. This interview is designed to explore the individual’s psychological history, current mental health, and overall functioning. The clinical interview helps to gain an in-depth understanding of the individual’s thoughts, behaviors, and experiences, offering a personal perspective on their mental health.
Collateral interviews involve gathering information from individuals who know the person being evaluated, such as family members, friends, coworkers, or medical professionals. These third-party perspectives help verify the information provided by the individual during the clinical interview and offer additional insight into how the individual’s behavior and mental health affect their interactions with others.
Comprehensive Report: At the conclusion of the Court-Ordered Psychological Evaluation, typically within 10-14 business days, Dr. Moreland will release the evaluation report which compiles all the information gathered during the evaluation process.
